In 2018 The Republic of South Sudan signed the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan. Section 4.6.1 of that Agreement stipulates important organization to be established by the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (RTGoNU), and among them is the PPDAA. Shortly after the signing of the Revitalized Agreement, the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Act which would allow for the formation of the Authority was passed by National Legislative Assembly in 2018 and assented by His Excellency the President of the Republic of South Sudan in April 2019. The establishment of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDAA) is provided in Chapter II of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Act, 2018 (PPDA Act). The establishment of the Authority and appointment of Board Members was made on 17th February 2023 when His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of the Republic of South Sudan announced the appointment of the Executive Director and Members of the Board of Directors of the Authority.
